Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior…. 1 Timothy 2:1-3 When is the last time you complained about the state of our nation? When is the last time you railed against politicians? And when is the last time you prayed for our nation or our politicians? That’s what I thought. In WWII, there was an adviser to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped. There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. Complaining about the state of things only makes things worse. There are many ways to be part of the solution to what ails our nation, and prayer is certainly on that list. So, in honor of President’s Day… No matter what your political persuasion, let’s commit each evening at 8:00PM Central Standard Time, to stop what we’re doing, and pray. Pray for peace. Pray for cooperation in our government. Pray for the safety of our troops and the civility of our citizens. And while we’re at it, let’s pray to the Prince of Peace for the peace of our world. If you’re willing to join me in this endeavor simply leave a comment saying, “I’m in!” Right now, put a repeating alarm on your cell phone for 8:00PM CST. Otherwise, you know you’ll forget!! And spread the word. Invite others to join you. Less whining. More praying. What a novel idea. And thanks to my friend, Pat, who turned me onto this idea (you know who you are!). Chuck Nancy February 18, 2019 Yes, this is a great idea. I’m in. I also wanted to mention another opportunity my husband and I have been a part of during the winter months at the church we attend. At the end of each Sunday service, the congregation sings, “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” It is a powerful and unifying message. It is a great way to start the week. Thank you.
